Why Methanol is the safe, clean, and versatile energy source of the future?

Methanol sometimes referred to as ‘wood alcohol’ is the simplest alcohol that can be produced from just water, carbon dioxide and energy. Methanol stores half the energy of traditional petroleum-based gasoline. The light that burns half as bright also burns more clearly, with no soot, particulates and other residuals. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the combustion of methanol also produces less pernicious greenhouse gases in the form of nitrous oxides.

Methanol biodegrades quickly. The methanol manufacturers in India have traditionally produced methanol from natural gas as it is more economical. It can be corrosive to the older generations of automobile tubing and casing, though much less to the newer generations. It is a much more efficient alternative to fuel sources like gasoline and diesel. Methanol’s efficiency as an energy carrier has made it increasingly common as a fuel for factories and electricity generation.

Scientists have long struggled with generating and storing hydrogen the kind that might one day become the backbone for renewable energy fuel cells. The potential that methanol as a fuel offers as an environmentally sound fuel is huge. The methanol manufacturers in India have observed that the demand for methanol is growing worldwide as a promising resource of a new era of clean energy.

Methanol is already used in race cars because of its property of producing clear smoke, preventing pileups. Unlike typical petroleum-based gasoline, water is quite effective in fighting methanol-based fires, though the fires caused by methanol is clean and mostly invisible during daylight. Methanol manufacturers in India often add additives to methanol to increase its visibility. Methanol is also employed in the raw chemical production of all petroleum-based chemical products  It is used as a base material in acetic acid, formaldehyde and in recent years has also been increasingly used in ethylene and propylene.

Mixing methanol with other substances like these also enables it to be used as an intermediate in the manufacturing of thousands of methanol or methanol derivative products used in our everyday lives. The fact that methanol is a safe, clean and versatile source of energy and its endless myriad applications have made it ubiquitous in our lives.
